The Black Stallion is based on a Mercedes Benz Sprinter L3H2 with all-wheel drive and the legendary 6-cylinder engine. Even from the outside, this masterpiece lives up to its name: finished entirely in black, with powerful proportions and distinctive add-ons. A winch, roof rack, side panels, and the rear carrier system for bikes, a storage box, and a spare tire give the vehicle its unmistakable presence. 18-inch twin-monotube rims and the Advanced suspension system from 4×4 Project round out the setup, combining a commanding appearance with a high level of ride comfort.
Inside, the Black Stallion reveals another side of its character. Leather and Alcantara enhance the cockpit, while the intricate stitching on the seats and door panels underscores the car’s handcrafted character. Glazed aluminum trim, dark cabinetry surfaces, and light oak veneer create a deliberate contrast and lend the interior its distinctive depth.
Four individual seats ensure a comfortable ride. In the second row, two Schnierle VANX seats are mounted flexibly on a rail system integrated into the floor. Behind them lies the spacious kitchen, featuring a three-burner gas stove and a splash guard developed by VANME that can be pulled out directly from the wall unit as needed. Oak drawers with custom-fit inserts provide dedicated storage space for dishes, pots, and kitchen utensils.
Thoughtful design extends to the bathroom as well. A Cinderella incinerating toilet sits atop a solid-wood tub and incinerates waste after use. Right next to the bathroom is a refrigerator tower featuring a 90-liter compressor refrigerator.
In the rear, the crosswise-oriented bed makes efficient use of the vehicle’s length, thereby creating more space in the living area. Beneath it is the spacious rear garage. Two pull-out drawers accommodate Euroboxes and fishing gear, ensuring that your equipment stays organized and is easily accessible even while on the road.
The Black Stallion combines the imposing appearance of a meticulously built all-wheel-drive Sprinter with an interior in which materials, functionality, and craftsmanship are harmoniously coordinated down to the smallest detail. A VANME Masterpiece with a character all its own.
Freedom — it needs the right foundation
Behind the Black Stallion lies a clear vision: to create a travel vehicle that imposes as few limitations as possible on its owner. It’s not built for a specific location or a specific way of traveling, but rather for the freedom to make new decisions along the way. Road or dirt. Campground or a spot far beyond traditional infrastructure. A weekend on the road or a longer trip with as much independence as possible.
The former Sprinter was prepared step by step to meet exactly this challenge. The Advanced suspension from 4×4 Project, the rugged AT tires on 18-inch twin-monotube rims, the underbody protection, and the snorkel expand its capabilities off paved roads. A winch provides added security when the terrain gets tougher. Roof racks, a rear carrier system, a storage box, and a spare tire ensure that even extensive gear has a designated place.
But true independence isn’t determined by off-road capability alone. Solar panels on the roof generate power when there’s not a single outlet to be found far and wide. The water supply system is designed with even greater consistency: An integrated filtration system treats suitable surface water into clean drinking water, thereby significantly reducing dependence on water supply stations.
This concept continues inside. The long kitchen with a three-burner gas stove allows for proper cooking instead of improvised camp cooking. The splash guard, which slides out from the wall unit, creates a protected work surface exactly when it’s needed. The 90-liter compressor refrigerator provides enough storage for longer trips.
Even in the bathroom, independence didn’t have to come at the expense of comfort. The Cinderella incinerating toilet eliminates the need for traditional black water disposal, making it a perfect fit for the vehicle’s design. Wherever the Black Stallion can park, a comfortable retreat is never far away.
Beneath the transverse bed, the rear garage makes full use of the available space. Pull-out shelves for Euroboxes and fishing gear keep your equipment organized and within easy reach. Bikes are stored on the rear rack—along with the spare tire and an additional storage box. This way, the actual living space remains reserved for what it was designed for: traveling and living.
That’s why the Black Stallion isn’t just an off-road camper. Its individual components all work together toward a single goal: range, self-sufficiency, comfort, and the ability to stay longer in places where others would already have to seek out supplies again.
