VANME & Delta 4×4

Off-road rims, tires, lights, front bar and rear ladder from the Bavarian specialist – installed in premium campers from Hamburg

Anyone building a camper for real adventures needs more than a solid interior. You need components that last where the asphalt ends. This is precisely why VANME works together with Delta 4×4: the Bavarian off-road specialist that has been developing, manufacturing and distributing rims, tires, lighting and off-road accessories for four-wheel drive vehicles since 1980. Delta Geländesport und Zubehör Handels GmbH, based in Pfaffenhofen an der Glonn near Munich, is one of the oldest and most renowned companies in the European off-road industry – and is a key partner for VANME when it comes to equipping off-road campervans.

What VANME appreciates about Delta 4×4 is the consistency in the range: every product – whether rim, tire, front bar or rear ladder – is designed for tough off-road use and comes with the documents for road approval. No compromise products, no gray areas for TÜV approval. Delta 4×4 supplies off-road rims with extreme load capacities, off-road tires, professional LED lighting, robust front bars and rear ladders with spare wheel carriers, which VANME installs in the expansion projects and integrates into the overall concept.

Delta 4×4 – Who is behind it?

The history of Delta 4×4 begins in 1980, when founder Josef Loder founded delta Geländesport und Zubehör Handels GmbH in Schondorf am Ammersee. What began as a passion project for the Suzuki LJ80 – with heating pipes, a locksmith from the neighborhood and an advertisement in an off-road magazine – grew over four decades into an internationally recognized company for off-road tuning and off-road vehicle accessories. As early as 1981, Delta 4×4 moved to Odelzhausen near Munich, where the company is still based today – more precisely in the Unterumbach district of the municipality of Pfaffenhofen an der Glonn.

Josef Loder not only brought with him entrepreneurial skills, but also sound experience from motorsport. He took part in the Dakar Rally himself and gained knowledge that flowed directly into product development. This combination of racing DNA and technical precision still characterizes the company today. Over 20 employees develop, test and sell off-road components for almost all common off-road vehicles, pick-ups, SUVs and vans at the site near Munich.

Delta 4×4 is much more than an accessory dealer. The company manufactures its own wheel lines, develops its own tire series under the Loder Tire brand and has been the first official Mickey Thompson importer in Europe since 1984 and the first German PIAA importer since 1989. In addition, the company supplies well-known car manufacturers as original equipment – a proof of quality that only a few aftermarket suppliers can boast. Media such as Top Gear, auto motor und sport, GRIP and the NZZ regularly report on Delta projects.

Why off-road components are crucial for campers

A campervan is no longer a delivery van. The standard equipment of a Mercedes Sprinter or VW Crafter is designed for inner-city distribution transport – not for a fully equipped camper van with an additional weight of 600 to 900 kilograms, which is driven over gravel roads in Scandinavia, sandy tracks in Morocco or mountain roads in the Alps. Rims, tires, lighting and functional add-on parts such as the front bar, rear ladder and cable winch are among the components that determine the safety, comfort and off-road capability of a touring vehicle.

Standard rims quickly reach their load limits when loaded. Standard tires offer too little grip on loose surfaces. And the factory-fitted lighting is designed for illuminated country roads, not for dark tracks without street lighting. This is precisely where the products come in – and this is why VANME integrates them into its expansion projects.

Delta 4×4 off-road rims – the foundation for every camper

At the heart of the range are the company’s own off-road rims. Delta 4×4 offers an extensive range of rims with diameters from 16 to 23 inches, in both aluminum and steel. Each rim is supplied with a strength certificate documenting the respective load capacity – for some models this is up to 1,800 kilograms per wheel.

The most frequently installed rim on VANME is the Klassik_B – available in black matt, polished, gunmetal and as a rugged version. It combines a timeless spoke design with the typical load-bearing capacity and fits perfectly into the overall off-road look on VANME campers. Depending on customer requirements, the Delta 4×4 Classic, the Force20 or the Hanma are also used. The overall range includes other models such as LegacyForged, WP, Avventura, Lander12, SINS, Envy, BlakTrak and the forged Forged5000. All rims are TÜV-certified and are supplied with a parts certificate or ABE, so that registration with TÜV, DEKRA or KÜS is no problem.

Off-road tires from Delta 4×4 – the right tires for every tour

The preferred choice at VANME is the Loder AT#1 – the company’s own off-road tire, developed in Germany specifically for European on- and off-road requirements. The C2 (light truck) class tire fits exactly in the segment between mud-terrain and all-terrain: The tread blocks, which are pulled deep into the tire shoulder, provide grip on loose surfaces, while the tread ensures low rolling noise on the road. The Loder AT#1 offers a load capacity of up to 1,320 kg per tire with a speed rating of 190 km/h and is approved as an all-season tire thanks to the 3PMSF snowflake symbol. The Loder AT#1 on a Klassik_B in black matt is the most frequently fitted combination at VANME.

In addition to the Loder AT#1, the range of tires includes all-terrain and mud-terrain tires from BF Goodrich, Yokohama, Cooper Tire and Mickey Thompson. Depending on the application profile, a different tire may be the better choice – Delta 4×4 and VANME provide individual advice.

PIAA lighting – visibility and safety in the field

Delta 4×4 has been the first German importer for PIAA – the Japanese manufacturer of high-performance lighting systems – since 1989. PIAA LED light bars and LED auxiliary headlights offer a light output that far exceeds the standard lighting – with low energy consumption, which is crucial in self-sufficient camper operation. VANME generally installs PIAA systems as roof lightbars or as auxiliary headlights on the front bar, professionally integrated into the vehicle’s electrical system.

Delta 4×4 front bar, rear ladder and cable winch – protection and function on the exterior

In addition to rims, tires and lights, VANME installs other components on the vehicle exterior that play a central role for off-road campers: Front bar, rear ladder with spare wheel carrier and winches.

Delta 4×4 front bar

The front bar for the Mercedes Sprinter protects the front and radiator system from stone chips, branches and contact with uneven terrain when driving off-road. It also serves as a mounting base for PIAA auxiliary headlights and offers an optional mount for the appropriate cable winch. The bracket is available in black and is approved in accordance with EC directives. For VANME, the front bar is not just a protective product, but also a design element that gives the camper its unmistakable off-road character.

Delta 4×4 rear ladder with spare wheel carrier

The aluminum rear ladder is one of the most sophisticated accessories in the range. It combines three functions in one component: rear ladder for safe access to the roof and roof rack, spare wheel carrier for TÜV-compliant carrying of the spare wheel at the rear and a universal carrier plate for additional equipment via the optional utility plate. The sturdy aluminum tube construction is lightweight and at the same time highly resilient – it carries wheels up to size 285/60R18. Moving the spare wheel to the rear frees up valuable storage space in the vehicle interior – an advantage that every centimeter counts, especially for VANME campers. The rear ladder is TÜV-certified and available for the Mercedes Sprinter W907/910, VW Crafter and MAN TGE.

Delta 4×4 cable winch for the Mercedes Sprinter

Delta offers a cable winch especially for the Mercedes Sprinter for campers who are traveling in real off-road terrain. It is usually integrated behind the front bar and enables self-rescue if the vehicle gets stuck in mud, sand or steep passages. For VANME customers planning expeditions to remote regions – whether in Africa, Scandinavia or Central Asia – the cable winch is a useful addition that makes the difference between a short interruption and a real problem in an emergency.

Further accessories at a glance

In addition to the standard VANME components, the range also includes other off-road products that can be integrated as required: Raising and body lift kits for improved ground clearance, fender extensions for wider tire dimensions, underride guards, snorkels, wheel spacers and speedometer adjustments for modified tires. Delta 4×4 covers the entire spectrum required to transform a standard vehicle into an off-road motorhome.

How VANME integrates the Delta 4×4 components

At VANME, the components are part of the overall planning of every camper project. As early as the concept phase, we work with the customer to analyze which destinations are planned, which terrain requirements exist and what the total weight of the vehicle will be.

On this basis, we recommend the right products – from the rims, tires and lighting to the front bar, rear ladder with spare wheel carrier and cable winch. The selection is based on the principle of optimum coordination: all components must match each other and the overall concept of the camper.

During assembly, VANME ensures that all components are installed professionally. Rims and tires are fitted with the correct tightening torques, PIAA lighting and cable winch are professionally wired, the front bar and rear ladder are securely attached and all relevant registrations are prepared for road approval. The result: a campervan in which the off-road equipment is not an afterthought, but an integral part of the overall concept.

Retrofitting components – also for existing campers

Delta 4×4 products can not only be integrated into new builds, but can also be retrofitted to existing campers. Anyone who already drives a converted Sprinter, Crafter or TGE and would like to retrofit rims, tires, lighting, a front bar, rear ladder or cable winch can order this from VANME.

For a retrofit, we first analyze the current condition of the vehicle, the removal weight and the planned usage scenarios. Based on this, we suggest the appropriate components and take care of the professional installation, including all the necessary registrations. A final test drive and follow-up inspection are standard at VANME.

Why VANME relies on Delta 4×4

There are numerous suppliers of off-road rims and off-road accessories. Why Delta 4×4? The answer can be boiled down to three points.

Firstly: experience. Delta 4×4 has been on the market since 1980, making it one of the oldest companies in the European off-road sector. Over four decades of development, production and practical testing – right up to the Dakar Rally – have created a wealth of experience that is reflected in the quality of every single product.

Secondly, the quality of our own products. Rims are not bought in and relabeled. They are manufactured to our own specifications, provided with strength certificates and tested under extreme conditions. Wheel loads of up to 1,800 kilograms speak for themselves. This is complemented by cooperation with premium brands such as BF Goodrich, Mickey Thompson and PIAA – manufacturers that have been established in the off-road world for decades.

Thirdly: approval security. Every product is supplied with the relevant documents for road approval – parts certificate, ABE or strength certificate. This means: no problems with TÜV approval, no uncertainties with registration, no compromises with the operating license. For VANME as a manufacturer of premium campers, this approval security is non-negotiable.
