A Journey That Began Twice
HOMER is a special project. Not just because of the vehicle, but above all because of the story behind it.
The foundation is a Mercedes Benz Sprinter L3H2 with all-wheel drive—designed for long trips, plenty of living space, and journeys that don’t always end on paved roads.
Our history with HOMER, however, began long before the vehicle took on its current look. Back then, the Sprinter came to us to have a pop-up roof installed. Its owners did the interior work themselves.
With plenty of time, a knack for DIY, and a very clear vision of how they wanted to travel and live in their vehicle, they designed their own floor plan, selected materials, and built a camper that was a perfect fit for them.
Then a technical malfunction changed everything. Parts of the vehicle and the interior—which had taken many hours of work to build—were destroyed by a fire.
When the two of them came back to us afterward, their vision was still clear: The floor plan had proven itself. They wanted it back.
This time, we should build it.
For us, that didn’t mean inventing something completely new. It meant understanding a good idea, preserving its qualities, and building on it with our experience, craftsmanship, and technical capabilities.
A great idea, reimagined.
The foundation for HOMER was unusually concrete. Our customers already knew their vehicles inside and out. They knew which processes worked for them, where they needed space, and which solutions had proven effective on their trips.
And they had a keen sense of design.
Natural wood, muted shades of green, dark surfaces, and cognac-colored leather come together to create a material palette that feels both warm and full of character. The dark slatted ceiling lends the interior a clean, architectural line. Integrated spotlights and indirect lighting follow the contours of the furniture, strategically highlighting specific areas.
Soft curves meet precise lines. Visible wood grain on surfaces with a technical look. The green cabinet fronts provide a subtle contrast to the wood, while cognac-colored details tie the design together with the custom-upholstered seats.
This design doesn’t stop at the passenger compartment. The cockpit was also incorporated into the overall concept. The materials, colors, and distinctive stitching of the seats extend the design language all the way to the front.
The result isn’t just an interior put together from beautiful materials. It’s the result of a very personal vision of what traveling should feel like.
Built— with mutual understanding.
Anyone who has ever customized a vehicle themselves sees craftsmanship in a different light.
We know how many hours can be lost in a single detail. We know how many decisions lie behind a seemingly simple solution. And we understand why, in the end, just a few millimeters can sometimes make all the difference.
That’s exactly what made working at HOMER so special.
Our customers didn’t just bring with them the experience they gained from their first conversion. They knew from their own experience what it takes to turn an idea into a functioning vehicle. This gave them a special understanding of our work right from the start.
Ideas could be discussed on an equal footing, solutions developed together, and details continually refined.
We brought our experience in vehicle manufacturing, furniture making, engineering, and design to the table. Our customers contributed their experience, their good taste, and a very clear vision of how their vehicle should function and feel.
This collaboration didn’t just result in an extraordinary campervan. Over the course of our time together, a bond developed that makes this project especially meaningful to us personally.
And maybe that’s exactly why his name fits so well.
For millennia, Homer’s *Odyssey* has come to symbolize one of the great stories of being on the road—a journey that does not follow a straight path, but is marked by unexpected twists and turns, new paths—and the importance of a place where one feels at home.
The story of this Mercedes Benz Sprinter L3H2 with all-wheel drive also turned out differently than planned.
But she kept walking.
HOMER has been through his own odyssey.
Now the next chapter begins.
