VANME & Deimann Fahrwerktechnik

Ride comfort and design in perfection

At VANME, the focus is not only on the interior, but also on the performance and aesthetics of our campers. A coherent overall package starts with the right chassis and ends with high-quality rims that combine safety, functionality and design. This is precisely why we work together with Deimann Fahrwerktechnik – a company that has been an established name in the suspension industry for years and develops rims and suspension solutions under its own brand Twin Monotube Projekt that are specially tailored to vans, panel vans and off-road vehicles.

A partner with dual expertise

With Deimann Fahrwerktechnik GmbH & Co. KG from Hauenstein in the Palatinate, we have a partner at our side who is not only a leader in the development of innovative chassis solutions, but has also made a name for itself as a wheel manufacturer for panel vans and transporters. Thanks to many years of experience, in-depth know-how and a clear eye for technical trends, Deimann Fahrwerktechnik regularly supplies the market with new wheel designs and chassis components that serve both design and technical substance.

Deimann Fahrwerktechnik: The specialist behind the products

Deimann Fahrwerktechnik is based in Hauenstein, a small town in the Palatinate Forest in Rhineland-Palatinate. The company specializes in the trade and development of automotive chassis technology parts, spare parts and accessories – with a clear focus on commercial vehicles, vans and transporters. In contrast to broad-based suppliers that offer products for dozens of vehicle segments, Deimann Fahrwerktechnik deliberately concentrates on a limited selection of vehicle types. This focus allows the company to develop solutions that are precisely tailored to the respective platform – right down to the appropriate offset, braking clearance and wheel load.

Deimann Fahrwerktechnik’s development work is not done on its own. The company cooperates with well-known suppliers to the automotive industry on its suspension projects. The development partners include Bilstein, Eibach and Koni – three manufacturers that are represented in the original equipment of European car manufacturers and whose components are used in numerous production vehicles. This cooperation ensures that the suspension components from Deimann Fahrwerktechnik are not only at the level of renowned original equipment manufacturers in terms of craftsmanship, but also in terms of design.

Twins Monotube Project – The brand for suspensions and rims

Under the brand name Twin Monotube Projekt, Deimann Fahrwerktechnik sells its own range of coilover suspensions, shock absorbers, lift springs and rims. The name goes back to the design of the first suspensions that the company developed for the VW T5 and T6: Monotube dampers, in which the oil is routed in a single tube. This design principle offers advantages over conventional twin-tube dampers in terms of heat dissipation and response dynamics – two properties that are particularly relevant for heavily loaded campers and vans. The success of monotube technology has prompted Deimann Fahrwerktechnik to continuously expand its range over the years.

The Twin Monotube project range now includes far more than the original VW suspensions. The range covers vehicles such as the Mercedes Sprinter (906 and 907/910 series), the VW Crafter, the MAN TGE, the Fiat Ducato, the Mercedes V-Class W447, the VW ID.Buzz, the VW T7 as well as the Land Rover Defender and the Mercedes G-Class. There are specific article numbers, offset depths and TÜV certificates for each of these vehicle types – an effort that only a few competitors make on this scale. It is precisely this model coverage that makes Deimann Fahrwerktechnik a relevant supplier for professional camper fitters.

Why the right chassis is crucial for everyday camper life

A camper based on a panel van such as the Mercedes Sprinter or the VW Crafter is subjected to completely different stresses in everyday life than a comparable van in delivery traffic. The complete interior fittings – furniture, kitchen, sanitary facilities, water tanks, electrics, roof superstructures – add considerable additional weight. Many campers are permanently close to the permissible total mass or exceed the weight for which the standard chassis was designed. The result: a spongy ride, increased lateral inclination in bends and a significantly longer braking distance.

A professionally tuned chassis corrects these weaknesses. It compensates for the additional weight with stiffer springs and adapted dampers, improves road holding in crosswinds and shortens the braking distance. At the same time, it can – with the right configuration – also increase ground clearance. Especially for campers who also travel on unpaved roads, gravel tracks or mountain passes, a suspension lift is a decisive gain in safety. Deimann Fahrwerktechnik covers precisely this range – from comfort-oriented lowering to all-terrain raising – with its Twins Monotube project program.

Rims with substance: The Twins Monotube Allterrain series

Deimann Fahrwerktechnik has also positioned itself as a wheel manufacturer and is actively shaping the market for van and transporter wheels. According to the company, the Twin Monotube Projekt brand rims are manufactured by one of the most renowned German rim manufacturers – a supplier that supplies original equipment to German premium manufacturers such as Porsche, Mercedes-Benz and BMW. The same production lines, quality standards and 4-layer paintwork are used as in the series production of these vehicles.

One feature that sets the Twins Monotube rims apart from many competitor products is the concept of the replaceable crash protection ring. In the Allterrain series (AT models), a separate protective ring made of aluminum is screwed on to protect the rim flank from damage caused by kerbs, stones or debris. If the ring is damaged, it can be replaced individually – the rim itself remains undamaged. For campers who regularly travel on challenging surfaces, this detail significantly reduces follow-up costs. It shows how practically oriented Deimann Fahrwerktechnik designs its products.

The all-terrain rims from Twin Monotube Projekt are available in different versions: as AT, AT2, AT3 and AT5 in 17, 18 and 20 inch, optionally in the colors satin black, stone, terra, granite or night. Each variant is offered as a so-called all-round carefree package – including wheel bolts, the appropriate offset for the respective vehicle and the corresponding TÜV certificate. This concept is characteristic of Deimann Fahrwerktechnik’s approach: every product should be directly mountable without reworking and without additional orders.

Heavy duty: wheels for Sprinter and heavy panel vans

For vehicles in the large panel van segment – in particular the Mercedes Sprinter, the VW Crafter and the MAN TGE – Deimann Fahrwerktechnik has developed the heavy-duty version of the Twin Monotube AT rims. These HD models are available in the 8.5×18 inch size and are characterized by a tested wheel load of up to 1,400 kilograms. For a fully equipped Sprinter camper, whose axle loads are significantly higher than those of an empty van, this load capacity is not a theoretical value, but a necessary operational feature.

For the Mercedes Sprinter of the 906 and 907/910 series, the Twin Monotube project program offers the AT-HD rims in the 6×130 bolt circle configuration with an offset of ET47. According to the manufacturer, neither wheel arch extensions nor bodywork are required – the rim has been developed so that it can be fitted without additional modifications. The TÜV certificate approves relevant all-terrain tire sizes such as 255/55 R18, 255/60 R18 and 265/60 R18 for all-wheel drive models. All HD rims are supplied with matching wheel mounting bolts as standard.

Within the HD series, Deimann Fahrwerktechnik offers a choice of several design lines. The classic AT-HD has the bolt-on protective ring, while the monobloc version dispenses with this ring and creates a closed, one-piece appearance. The AT3-HD, on the other hand, has a different spoke design that is more off-road oriented. All models are available in the colors satin black, stone and terra. Anyone setting up a Mercedes Sprinter as a camper will therefore not only find a technically solid but also visually differentiated selection of rims in the Deimann Fahrwerktechnik range.

Chassis for Sprinter and panel vans

In addition to rims, the Deimann Fahrwerktechnik range also includes complete suspension solutions for various panel vans. For the Fiat Ducato and its sister models Citroën Jumper and Peugeot Boxer, Deimann Fahrwerktechnik offers a specially tuned system called Twin Monotube Project CSC (Comfort + Stability Control), which significantly improves ride comfort and driving stability compared to the standard suspension. The VW Crafter and MAN TGE have a comparable system, the Twins Monotube Projekt-Lift-TGE, which increases the ground clearance and at the same time optimizes the driving characteristics under load.

The VW T series makes up the largest part of Deimann Fahrwerktechnik’s suspension program. Here, the range extends from adjustable coilover suspensions to electronically hardness-adjustable systems and DCC-compatible plug-and-play solutions that can be integrated directly into the standard suspension electronics. The range also includes lift springs and reinforcement springs for the rear axle – the latter are particularly relevant for campers who are permanently on the road with a high rear weight. Here too, Deimann Fahrwerktechnik ensures vehicle-specific tuning.

How VANME uses components from Deimann Fahrwerktechnik

In our Hamburg factory, we select the right components for each vehicle project according to a clearly defined process. First, we analyze the base vehicle, the total weight of the planned expansion and the customer’s individual usage scenarios. On this basis, we configure the chassis and the tires – whereby the products from Deimann Fahrwerktechnik are regularly used.

The Twins Monotube all-terrain rims in the heavy-duty version are regularly used in our Twins projects if the customer values a robust, off-road look and the vehicle is to be driven on demanding routes. In combination with suitable all-terrain tires and an adapted chassis from Deimann Fahrwerktechnik, the result is a complete package that can be driven safely and under control both on the highway and on gravel roads. Professional installation, registration and TÜV approval are carried out in-house – this is how we ensure that all components are correctly installed and documented.

Distribution and availability

Deimann Fahrwerktechnik distributes its products via a network of specialist dealers and installation points. In Germany, its official partners include numerous specialized workshops, tire dealers and van fitters. Sales partners are also active in Austria, Switzerland, the Netherlands, France, Spain, Scandinavia and Great Britain – the Twin Monotube project range is therefore available throughout Europe. As an official installation partner of Deimann Fahrwerktechnik, VANME can purchase the products directly and have them installed and approved. The advantage for our customers: They receive advice, procurement, installation and documentation from a single source.

Quality assurance and approval

A key aspect that distinguishes Deimann Fahrwerktechnik from less specialized suppliers is its consistent approval work. Every rim and every suspension is supplied with a vehicle-specific TÜV certificate. This certificate lists the approved tire sizes, the maximum permissible wheel load and any necessary accompanying measures such as speedometer adjustments. For camper conversions, which have to undergo extensive TÜV approval anyway, this documentation considerably reduces the time and effort required for approval. As Deimann Fahrwerktechnik only develops components that are tailored to specific vehicles, typical problems such as unsuitable offset, contact with sliding doors or lack of brake clearance – difficulties that often occur with universally designed rims – are eliminated. Anyone who chooses products from Deimann Fahrwerktechnik therefore not only receives components, but also the associated approval security.

Choice of materials and manufacturing philosophy

Since December 2023, Deimann Fahrwerktechnik has had its Twin Monotube wheel models manufactured by a German producer that is active in the original equipment sector for European premium brands. There, the rims pass through the same production lines and quality controls as series wheels for Porsche or BMW. The aluminum used comes from high-quality alloys, which are then coated in a four-layer painting process. For VANME customers, this means that the Twin Monotube rims that we install do not differ in terms of material quality and workmanship from what buyers of a new vehicle can expect from the factory.

Deimann Fahrwerktechnik also pursues this quality standard when it comes to suspension components. Shock absorbers are manufactured in cooperation with Bilstein and Koni, while the springs come from Eibach – three names that have been references in the suspension industry for decades. Deimann Fahrwerktechnik takes care of the vehicle-specific tuning and configuration, while series production is carried out by the respective component manufacturers. This model combines the specialization of a niche supplier with the vertical integration of established suppliers.
